“Black Bears at Lake Chelan” this Thursday April 11, 2024 at 7 pm. Rich Beausoleil, Bear and Cougar Specialist for Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife will present black bear ecology learned from a ten-year research project in the North Cascades that finished in 2023; provide an update on orphaned bear cubs from the Twenty-Five Mile fire; give an update on the chronic and increasing human-black bear conflict at Lake Chelan; discuss how WDFW uses Karelian Bear Dogs at Lake Chelan; and give tips on what Lake Chelan residents can do to co-exist with bears and become a BearWise community.
