The Ruby presents: an inspirational true story, “Cabrini” (PG-13) April 12-16 at 7 pm Fri, Sat, Mon and Tues and 3 pm Sat and Sunday.   In 1889 Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini arrives in New York City and is greeted by disease, crime, and impoverished children. Cabrini sets off on a daring mission to convince the hostile mayor to secure housing and healthcare for society’s most vulnerable. “Black Bears at Lake Chelan” this Thursday April 11, 2024 at 7 pm.  Rich Beausoleil, Bear and Cougar Specialist for Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife will present black bear ecology learned from a ten-year research project in the North Cascades that finished in 2023; provide an update on orphaned bear cubs from the Twenty-Five Mile fire; give an update on the chronic and increasing human-black bear conflict at Lake Chelan; discuss how WDFW uses Karelian Bear Dogs at Lake Chelan; and give tips on what Lake Chelan residents can do to co-exist with bears and become a BearWise community. Join us for this exciting program!

“Scenic Art for Washington Theatres” on Thursday April 25 at 7 pm by Wendy Rae Waszut-Barrett, PhD, an author, artist, and historian, specializing in painted illusions created for nineteenth-century and twentieth-century popular entertainment.

          “Nick on the Rocks” on Thursday, May 23 at 7 pm Nick Zentner, popular presenter of PBS show “Nick on the Rocks” will be here to delight us with his take on the geological wonders of our region.
