“Where Does it Matter” premiere film screening Sunday, September 14 at 6:30 PM. All tickets are $10.
Where Does It Matter is a tense, character-driven thriller set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. Julie, a hardened survivor still clinging to her past life as a mother, and Chris, a priest whose faith is as fragile as his humanity, are forced into confinement as the undead pound at the door. What begins as a desperate struggle to escape soon spirals into a battle of beliefs, betrayals, and survival instincts. With each revelation, the line between salvation and damnation blurs, leading to a shocking finale that asks: when the world ends, where does it truly matter who you trust?  The film’s writer and director will present and discuss the film.

Ruby U: “Our Mr. Matsura” is coming to the Ruby this Thursday September 18 at 7 pm.   This 90 minute feature documentary film is the story of photographer Frank Matsura who journeyed from his native Japan to live in rural Washington State in the early 1900s. The son of a samurai, orphaned at a young age, Matsura was raised in Tokyo in the early Meiji Era, emigrated to Seattle as a young man and eventually made his way to Okanogan County, Washington. There he embedded himself in a community of Native people and homesteaders, including cowboys, ranchers, miners, fruit growers, shopkeepers, small business owners and other local movers and shakers. In the short time he had in the Okanogan, he became one of the area’s leading photo-chroniclers and, arguably, its most beloved citizen. As an artist his work is unique and underscores the shared humanity of his subjects. This is a special opportunity to view this film and meet the Emmy-winning filmmaker, Beth Harrington.
