Well we did it, 2020 has came and gone and the optimism for the new year is in full swing! Since we saw you last, The Ruby has welcomed a “new” addition into the family and we thought now would be a good time to introduce her.
In 1922, the Ruby Theatre purchased a photoplayer to provide background music for the silent movies. The photoplayer was one of 10,000 to 12,000 photoplayers in movie theaters around the country. When “talkies” came in the late 20’s the photoplayers became obsolete and disappeared. Today, less than three dozen operating photoplayers are known to exist in the world.
During the last 10 months we have been quietly installing and refurbishing a 1920 Wurlitzer Photoplayer in the Ruby, bringing back the forgotten instrument of the early photo plays.
We will be keeping you informed about VALENTINA, as she has been christened and is ready to show you her moves! There have also been many other improvements done at the Ruby for your enjoyment that we cannot wait to share with you.
In the meantime, you can read about our new old addition to the Ruby in this Thursday’s edition of the Wenatchee Daily World.
