Wendy Waszut-Barrett, PhD., well known for her work and research on historic theatre screens in the United States and Europe, will present a program on Historic Theatre Scenery on Sunday, February 20^th at 5:30 pm at Chelan’s Historic Ruby Theatre, 135 East Woodin Avenue in Chelan.

For over thirty years, Dr. Waszut-Barrett’s passion has advanced the preservation of theatrical heritage, restoration of historic backdrops, and the training of scenic artists in lost painting techniques.  She is an author, artist, and historian, specializing in painted settings for opera houses, vaudeville theaters, social halls, cinemas, and other entertainment venues. Recent publications include the “Santa Fe Scottish Rite Temple: Freemasonry, Architecture and Theatre”, as well as articles for Theatre Historical Society of America, Initiative Theatre Museum Berlin’s Die Vierte Wand, and various Masonic publications.  Dr. Wendy Waszut-Barrett is the founder and president of Historic Stage Services, LLC, a company specializing in the documentation and restoration of historic stage scenery. Dr. Waszut-Barrett has been invited to Washington to view and assess the extensive theatre murals recently rediscovered in the old Hub Theatre building in Okanogan.  She will also spend a day at Chelan’s Historic Ruby Theatre where she is consulting on a curtain replacement project.  While Wendy is in Chelan she will visit the Lake Chelan Historical Society Museum to view the 1932 painted advertising screen that hung in the Ruby Theatre. The public is welcome to attend this free program sponsored by the Ruby Theatre and the Lake Chelan Historical Society. For more information call: 509-387-1106
